I will forever admire this man.
I've been drawing out a new web layout, however nothing ever looks satisfying on paper.
Meeting readers of my blog will always seem awkward and surreal to me at first, especially I'm if it's in a random scenario such as in a restroom or if I'm in a rush on my way to a meeting. I ran into a reader just the other day at an intersection, really cool dude actually. I always say to myself afterwards " damn like people actually read my stuff, why?"
I feel the more time an individual spends idolizing another, they lose their sense of self being. What do you think?
Fashion week here in Montreal had just come to an end, and I managed to check out a few shows. But by being at these shows and by being surrounded by many individuals who indulge themselves in fashion I have come to some sort of realization. I looked around at everyone and said to myself "do we really need all of this and if so why". Clothing has just become so overwhelming and at time ridiculous in some aspects, to the point where a lot of great designs at times get depreciated and over shadowed by trends. I came home on my last night and looked around my room and realized how much I have consumed over the years of clothing. And compared it to what I really have to show for all of the material wealth. I pretty much have absolutely nothing, so me being the spontaneous person that I am. I just grabbed a bunch of garbage bags and pretty much got rid of the majority of my wardrobe. Something about doing it just felt right, but I really just can not put my finger on it. It was just another one of those gut feelings. I really feel I must focus my energy more on to finding ways to contribute to my surroundings, if all I do is go out and consume what will I have left?
I think I'm the only male on this planet who does not find any joy in watching sports.
Know and understand your value and never comprise it for anyone.

Valleys

A girl of colour asked me the other day "when you style me, what colour skin do you see?". I replied " I don't see a colour we all bleed the same", what I'm trying to say is if we really want to squash racism or the term "race" as a whole. We have to realize we are setting up barriers without even realizing it. Ignore the colour of my skin and of others and NO I WILL NOT SUPPORT your movement just because it focuses only on ethnic people. The more we stress it the more we allow these issues to breathe.
This Montreal weather really needs to make it's mind up.
Blogging takes a lot of time out of my personal time and space it can be a bit frustrating, but at the same time I love sharing great finds and information with my readers. I just really need to find a way to intertwine them together.

For all the creative heads out there young and old this is something I feel we all can appreciate and feed off of. Not too long ago The Halftime Collective and I had a bit of a sit down, and really just talked about inspirations, shot out ideas at one another, and just really just took time out to relax and just appreciate all that is creative. And in doing so, he actually introduced me to this website called Designspiration. Designspiration is absolutely amazing it offers so much inspiration for pretty much anything through out the creative process of any project with a design aspect, all the way down to different typography. With it's clean, simple, and minimalist aesthetic it allows its readers to really concentrate and appreciate the content that it holds. I highly suggest you allow yourself to get lost in it. This Buffalo Plaid Jacket I picked up over at Citizen Vintage, gets the job done. Its a must have piece for those who love layering through Autumn and Winter. And no you don't have to be massively built, beard having, axe swinging man to pull one of these out. Clearly I am no where near that description, the plaid is a classical and tradition print you really can never go wrong with. These past few weeks have really proved to me that hard work and persistence really does pay off, its no longer one of those corny little lines you say to appear rich with knowledge. There is a reason why somethings feel right and others don't. Pay attention to those feelings, for they will tell you who you are. There are so many things I do or think that others look at me and think I'm completely crazy to do but, to me they feel necessary. It is just that feeling that tells me "this is right, and it makes sense" even though it may appear as a complete blob to some, my vision brings it to life. I guess it's easier to call other's crazy instead of indulging and questioning to look a little deeper.
I'm now at the stage in my life I HATE sleeping.

Everyone is consuming, but not contributing. (I shall expand more on this later this is somewhat of a side not if you will. )
Every time I see a photo of someone smoking a bunt, flossing money, or flipping the bird. I lose all interest and just get turned off, yeah I know I shouldn't judge a book by its cover. But c'mon I find those photos tasteless, tacky, and honestly a bit rude. Carry yourself with grace people.
A lot of times I try to avoid the friends with the "hook ups" you know the ones " Hey Spencer I got this friend who knows so and so, it's goings to be perfect don't worry man I got you" Yeah no, those situations always turn out messy and conflicted. Always be more personal and deal with the scenario dead on you'll get through it quick fast and don't hide behind emails all the time.
Oh Twitter, it's such a love hate relationship. I follow a few close friends on twitter here and there I try to avoid doing so as much as possible. Reason being is that individuals will carry the same nonsense they have on FB or any other social networking platform and bring it to twitter. I really don't need to read your ignorance all day. Why treat every social networking platform the same? What's the point? I really see no purpose in that what so ever. If I unfollow just try not to take offence just understand I follow a lot of individuals I look up to and when your are tweeting nonsense I tend to miss something that can help or enlighten me from someone else. And we are all human I may have my moments from time to time but when you carry it on, on a daily basis and not providing anything stimulating. You really become an annoyance. It's 2012 everyone and their mother has a twitter, so keep this in mind : Never tweet your way out of an opportunity you never know who might be watching. - M.T.

The power of social networking

The world as we know it is pretty small, and with the help of social networking it makes it much more smaller. Last summer I did a photo shoot for a magazine spread in a local Ottawa magazine. And by the power of social networking ( tumblr ) the assistant from that photo shoot just so happened to come across my work. And just so happened to move to Montreal, to make a long story short Antoine is an amazing photographer, real humble, cool, just all around a dope person. We met up last week to kill sometime around the city and take some shots.

I owned these boots for about 4 - 5 months before I ever wore them not only because the weather wasn't really appropriate at the time. But they looked so dope but I just never really had a proper angle on how to incorporate them into my person style. I just knew they were different from any boot I've really owned. To be honest I never really heard much about Palladium boots before hand I knew what they were but there wasn't much of a buzz. The first time I saw a pair was outside of a community event and a friend of a friend had a pair on, since that day I always kept my eyes peeled for my own and eventually found myself a pair. Cot Damn!!! it is freezing in my neck of the woods, Iwas onversing with few buddies who stay over in New York and they had the nerve to complain about -2 degree weather. Clearly there don't know cold until they faced it over here in Canada. Got hit with -25 degrees today and to be honest thats considered a good day. I guess some people just get it easy right?

School Practicality

My holiday break has finally come to an end and it's time for me to haul myself back to the classroom for my second semester of the year. For the past 2 years I tended to carry my books and such in a satchel / messenger bag. At first, I really didn't mind but after awhile it took a real toll on my body and it really was time for me to pick up an actual book bag. Let's talk practicality, at this point I really wasn't even trying to pick up anything cute,stylish, or anything of that nature. I really just need something that can hold up for the semester and hopefully semesters to come. I headed over to Off The Hook, which is a boutique here in Montreal that caters to street wear and street wear culture. And managed to pick up this dope Penfield knapsack. The moment I spotted it I knew it was exactly what I needed, providing great structure,quality, and a great amount of packing space I really could not have gone wrong.

So if you follow me on my twitter as of late most have these letters may look a bit familiar to you, if not I'll give you a brief run down on what it signifies.

In one of my previous posts I had mentioned that I have been working on a upcoming series entitled "Whats His Is Hers". Get where the initials come from?? ahhh now I have you. Without going to deep into the project and giving it away just yet, while it's still in the works. I'd like to share my "vision board" if you will, of my ideas. Over time I have collected a countless number of images surfing the internet whether it be from blogs to online magazines. However within time a lot of this material just kept building up and I really was just hoarding a bunch of images on my hard drive that I would from time to time go refer back to for inspiration or enlightenment. Instead of just deleting them all I just through them all into a Tumblr account, this way there's no need to delete my inspirations and at the same time share with you my visions of the series and where they stem from.

This Tumblr account shares themes, moods, visions, photography, lifestyles, concepts, you name it. It's all there, everything that has stimulated me and pushed me to make everything want to come true for "Whats His Is Hers" is all on one page.

Kanye West Tweets , the world stops and reads ( The Seed )

It's 2:10 a.m bare with me please!

The seed, the thought, the idea, the action, and the will. Are of few ingredients need to make what we want happen, and it’s really what we fail to realize. Seeds are planted all around us on a daily basis; the seed is basically the influencer. It can be a quote, a picture, a child’s laughter, anything really pretty much. It just lays around waiting for us to pick up on it and plant it into the soil of our mental. These seeds tend to turn into thoughts if we allow them to but first we must look deeper than just the seed. We must look at what caused the seed, what made that child laugh and why, what made that painter want to paint such a portrait what was he feeling at the time, or how do the lyrics of this song make me feel the way I feel and what is the artists main objective with each slur and utter.

Unless you live under a rock, as I type this Kanye West is currently tweeting away to his hearts content with over 5 million readers reading away their minds and hearts are inflated by inspiration and hope as they frantically wait upon his next few 140 characters to pop up upon their screens. And I can’t help but think about the power of social networking. I thought back to Tyler the Creator and his video Yonkers, Kanye West a few months back had tweeted he felt it was the best music video of 2011 and followed that tweet with a link to the video. Those very minute views for Yonkers blew up and curiosity built as everyone tried to get as much info on this kid and his peers as they could. It was as if a star was born through just the power of a key pad on a cell phone. Crazy uh?

And once again Kanye West tweets and the world stops and read, and this time (in my opinion Kanye West is planting seeds). “What type of seed?”, asked one of my Tumblr followers. The seed to just DO! The seed to push those who need to be pushed, the seed to make believers out of their potential, the seed to have others just have an idea. What we fail to remember is that everything around us buildings, cars, forks, plates, buildings, lighting, everything was stimulated by an idea. An idea that can make the lives of other individuals better by what you create NOT! Just for money and glory. But to better the world we live in and most importantly touch lives.

It’s not only Kanye west tweets that I am taking in at this moment it is the cause and effect of these tweets. With every tweet Favorited or even Retweeted a seed has somewhat been planted. Not necessarily an idea but just a seed for further hopes and inspiration for an idea to prosper from his wording. All of this happening before me is truly beautiful in my opinion, I tend to look into the most insignificant details and value them just as much as I would a sunset. The beauties in life are what you really have to pay attention to see. Why should beauty ever be obvious? Always take your time out and analyze the possibilities of everything.

First and for most I would like to say Happy New Year to you all. This is the time where a large amount of people spent their time out partying, drinking away, and celebrating the New Year and a "new you". I spent my new years indoors at home alone trying to stimulate myself mentally watching many clips that featured a various amount of inspirational visuals. Was it as fun as party? Some may argue yes and some may argue now. I could only say I would have rather spent that night out on the town, But meh, it's really just any other night right?

In my previous the post "The Blues", I shared my love and hate relation hip with the color blue. Well as you can see I clearly have caught myself again in the blue. Blue, it is just a very versatile color with a great amount of various tones and shades. This pretty much can fall into any season, without looking like a hot mess. Unlike other colors blue has the ability to not only compliment an outfit but also can be used to add a specific contrast or traditional feel but all at the same time still remain subtle and not too aggressive and forward.

Here's another one of my Herringbone pieces, a blazer I managed to pick up at a shop a while back ago. A great substitution in the winter over a jacket , just for those days that aren't exactly too cold but still need to somewhat bundle up. Not to mention I am and will forever be in love with the elbow patches, ye you guys should know me and my love for detailing. It’s all in the details for me.

Needs&Wants : The Blues

For the longest time I have always had something against the color blue and I just could never put my finger on it. Ever since I was a kid it really just never appealed to really. But since I picked up Mark Mcnairy X Keds , my outlook on the color has slowly begin to transition. However, I believe I will forever be against baby blue but all other tones of blue such as navy, royal, lapis, etc are all fine by me.

I hope you all had a well enjoyed and rested Christmas with the ones you love and care for dearly. It's moments like those during the holidays that really show that you will always have those around to support and care for you under any conditions.

It is all over it is finally over, well finals that is. So to really explain lack of posts well...there you have it. But never mind all that I'm back and trying to get the flow back into what I love to share. Speaking of sharing I 'm currently working on my next upcoming series "Whats His Is Hers", yet again just another chapter in all of my visions.

When talking about classic F/W detailing,textures, and patterns Herringbone is right up there in top tier without a doubt. With such simplicity but at the same time well structured and finished Herringbone truly is winter wool staple that every man should own.

The Herringbone detailing is defined as " An arrangement or design consisting of column of short parallel lines, with all the lines in one column sloping one way and all the lines in the next column sloping the other resulting in resembling bones of a fish, tends to be used in the weave of cloth or placing of bricks."

The great folks at Against Nudity sent me these great pair of plaid trousers. This plaid pattern is minimal and classic, great for pairing them with a solid garment on your upper half. Not only was the detailing of the plaid appealing but also the pocket and button detailing caught my eye. Really can't take yourself too serious all the time right? The buttons and pocket detailing is a great way to flare out a little bit of character and personality. However, would I wear them to an extremely formal event? Possibly not.

Ah my utmost favorite time of the year, FINALS!. Can you sense my enthusiasm? Didn't think so, for the next week or so this is the type of attire you will only catch me in. The amount of projects and exams have me running all over the city getting as much done as possible. And wingtips are not necessarily the best piece of footwear for such occasions.

Quilted Jacket, offers durability, versatility, comfort, and structure what else more can you ask for? Every man should own one its pretty much a staple for the fall. The polyester shell mixed with a nylon lining offers a great shield againt weather's chills not only that but it remains lightweight giving the wearer much more comfort and space to maneuver day to day.

Speaking of comfort, man oh man its been literally 3 years since I pulled these out the box. I was once a collector of sneakers (one expensive hobby I'm more than happy I got over). But nonetheless my eyes are still able to identify a great sneaker when I see one. Out of all the sneakers I own I gravitate towards these more than my Jordans or Max Triax 91's. Adidas Gazelles needless to say will always and forever be a classic along with their brother The Shell Top Adidas. These sneakers are bit of a variation of the Gazelle, the Gazelle Skate offers much more comfort and and cushioning for those long treks through out the concrete jungle. And are a perfect fit for these long and gruesome weeks of finals.

For a bit of time now I have been keeping my eyes open for picking up a pair of New Balance sneakers, but my particularity has always gotten the best of me. I'm somewhat picky when trying to pick up footwear and even though New Balance makes amazing sneakers I always find myself finding a flaw or sometimes making up a flaw whether its the colorway or minor details to why I should not purchase them ( crazy I know ).

One day I was just browsing through a few blogs here and there mindlessly and I came across something golden. New Balance is offering their customers now a chance to design their own sneaker from their classic 574 model. I found this on Noah's blog ( which really is worth checking out ). So now I really have no choice but to go crazy and put something together.

As my readers know the fall is most definetly my favorite season of the year, but sadly all good things must come to an end. I'm prepping myself not only physically with my attire but mentally as well. The winter season here in Montreal, Canada shows no mercy at all. Its still fall but the temperature is for sure keeping us aware that any day now things are all going to change and before we know it I will be up to my calves in snow and temperatures will drop to the point where school isn't a good enough excuse to leave my apartment.

But for now the chill isn't too bad yet but its getting there. To hold up against such weather what we all need on our side is a great pair or 2 or maybe even 3 of corduroy pants. Cords are probably the most comfortable pieces a man can own next to a cashmere sweater not to mention they are also extremely durable. These just so happen to be my favorite pair that I own mainly for the color, the plum tone really defines fall.

A man with just as much of a passion, love, and understanding of menswear is my good friend Tiago. I paired up with him for this post. Tiago, really sets himself away from most individuals that I know his style is impeccable really. His ability toe mix and match textures, patterns, vibes, colors etc. keeps him one step ahead from the rest. I haven't met many one who carry the passion for menswear as this gentlemen.

To pass the time and in search for inspiration and enlightenment I tend to find myself, flipping through random pages or clicking through random links of just about anything. Never knowing what just might be on the other side. We all need that daily dose of inspiration from time to no matter what our interest may be.
My ipod not only consists of music but it consists of interviews ( audio & video ) of artists that I admire. To me getting to feel the artist behind the music is just as important as listening to their music. To help get a sense of what they set out to do with their music and how their creative process really works.

Everything is pretty swell on my end, between trying to keep up with school and blogging I rarely find time to sit and breathe. But *meh* that's just how the game goes right? "You see it act like you want it"- Jay Z. I recently put on a fashion show alone with my fellow classmates, the turn out was better than I expected to be it was an interesting experience and learned a few tricks of the trade. I'll hopefully get my hands on some footage and share with you all.

I always appreciate the love and kind words I recieve from my readers, sharing my interests with others and even inspiring others in their own fields and ambitions is extremely rewarding.

Just the other day I received a very beautiful gift from Natasha who rides out in Nashville and has been following my blog for a good amount of time now. This pocket square is what she had given to me, what makes this gift such a heart warming sentiment is the heritage behind it.

Before leaving Ghana Natasha's aunt had given her Kente cloth to take with her. Kente cloth originates from Ghana. Kente is looked upon as a sacred cloth and is tended to be worn at times of celebration / importance. Kente can always be identified due to its fascinating multicolored patterns, mixture of geometric shapes, and eccentric designs.

For Natasha to share such a piece of her own personal history with me is extremely beautiful but not only that it is a symbol of personal encouragement for whatever it is I do and will always keep it close to me.

As temperatures slowly drop with the change of season, it comes time to look for pieces to shield one self from such weather. But of course you can do this in style, cold temperatures are never an excuse to go half ass or not take time out to find a garment that holds all your needs and compliments your style and taste.

I came across this jacket at a thrift store back home in Ottawa, that previous week I was actually on the hunt for a good over sized fitting fatigue jacket I really got lucky with this find. Camo print is really one of those print details that is hot one year and than the next it becomes one of those " what on earth was I thinking " moments when looking back at it.

But with anything I purchase longevity is the key, so as many times as camo print comes in and out of style, this jacket will just be in the closet awaiting for its glory.

The great outdoors as of late has really been looking like fall the vibrancy of colors and textures are just astonishing just walking to school. I just felt as if I had to par take in such use of color just can't let nature go at it alone. So that being said I had to whip out these chinos I picked up awhile back at Tommy Hilfiger pairing it with the truffle button up just seemed oh so right.

The greatest beauty that comes with fall is the changing of the leaves. It really doesn't get any better than this, the amount of color that fills city streets is astonishing. Its as if everything is breathing and feels that much more alive. The weather isn't too hot nor too cold it's just right, making it perfect for people watching which is pretty much one of my favorite past times. Just to be able to see what people are wearing,layering techniques, and just really gel with the city.

I came across this scarf in a thrift shop a few months back it has autumn written all over it. The contrast of colors really helps piece together any autumn outfitting together as well the fringe around the edges give it a tad of a grungy but still a well kept look.

The time has come to start fighting back against the minor chills of fall, in times like these you need something not to heavy nor do you want something too light. A Down Vest is one piece of outwear I would highly recommend incorporating into your fall wardrobe. This is not the first time I've shared this piece check out my previous post, Rugby.

Hey Spencer what is "Down"? Down is pretty much the content in the vest that is used to keep you insulated. Look at it this way it's some what of have a stuffed animal or pillow around with you all day. I was drawn towards this vest for two main reasons A) the color was very toned down and subtle and B) the fitting and how it somewhat constricts to your shape on the sides not making me look extremely puffy all over. At first I was skeptical about the purchasing a down vest all together saying to myself " Uhhhhhh what about my arms". The Down Vest goes great with any form of crew neck sweater whether it be a cable knit or just a basic cotton contructed crew.

Everyone and their mother has some type of cold including myself. Which pretty much can only mean one thing. The transition from summer to fall has really set in. Fall is here and as you must know I am extremely excited. For the readers who have been following me for a while know that Fall is without a doubt my favorite season. Mainly due to the fact that I can now apply more layers, hats, and corduroy with out having to suffer from heat stroke.

Rugby shirts are currently one of my biggest obsessions, I really don't know why I never looked more into them before. I know absolutely nothing about the sport of rugby however. Rugby shirts are definitely in my books as a must have for the fall season. What draws me to Rugby shirts is the fit, at first I was skeptical becauuse I didn't want to look like some type of jocky tool. But they fit just right, not too big nor too constricting. As well the material used to make a Rugby are extremely strong and durable, as you can imagine. Have you ever watched or seen a clip of a rugby match? Yeah, well it makes sense to have a well constructed backing behind the garment.

My lack of posts!?!?! Ye, school has rudely interrupted my summer vacation. Well I must say it was great while it lasted. When school rolls in we all know fall is right around the corner. Fall actually just so happens to be my favorite season. It's not to hot and not too cold, its just right.

With every season there are usually certain staples that accompany them. For fall it tends to be layering, scarves, tweed, herringbone, etc. Color palettes also are thrown into the transition from summer to fall. Summer colors : red, baby blue, yellow are traded in for falls: truffle, navy, brown. But this fall I've decided to incorporate brighter hues that you most likely wouldn't see in many fall outfits.

Detailing is no exception to these turn of events. When choosing bright hues, they necessary do not have to be at big main focus of your outfit. Detailing can be a great substitute to portray these color ways. Without feeling a bit loud and over the top.

These are probably the most satisfying purchase I have made in a long time. Keds and Mark Mcnairy teamed up this fall for the second time. And produced this magnificent piece of work. These shoes offer Keds classical form/silhouette with a upper heavy canvas materials paired with Mcnairy's brick sole. I really can't complain they fit fantastically and have such a simple structure. But yet manage to draw so much attention due to it's sole.

As you all know a few weeks ago I took some time out and headed out to Ottawa to catch up with friends and family. I also got a chance to shoot this new installment of Propr Hello.

We all have that one friend who has such a corky and free spirited personality at all times. He or she can always bring light to any dark situation that you may come across. And here's mine meet Simane, what I find intriguing about Simane is her love for Asian culture, as well she always finds the time to posting new self portraits of herself everyday on Facebook. Till this day she has not yet once used the same facial expression in any of her images lol.

So we took a lil road trip a bit out of town to reach this mellow scenery of great open field, which ended in a pleasant day of photography.

On top of that Montreal Fashion Week begins this week, well actually today. Getting to interact and meet new people is always a plus in my books. Montreal Fashion Week Festivities always fulfill my needs of inspiration whether it’s positive vibes or even negative at time, I can always take something from it and add to my content. And finally to top it all off my birthday is tomorrow.

Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.

It will be 23 years that I have walked this earth, and at this moment I feel like it’s only been 2. Learning and growing more everyday has really helped me throughout time to really try and keep my thoughts fresh and my body young. Many say 23 is slowly the beginning of the end. The end being a career, marriage, kids, etc. I hear it so often that at time I believe it, and question myself “What the hell am i doing”. Friends I have grown up with have already gotten married or have had children. And I’m just sitting here blogging day in and day out. Trying to chase something, but not even sure of what exactly it is that I’m chasing.

That’s when doubt and insecurity kicks in, I’m human just as much as anyone else so of course these emotions will occur from time to time. There are nights where I would sit here frustrated with how things are going and just want to quit with everything. It all seems pointless, it all seems meaning less. I've never been good with words so explaining my ambition to others just seems like pure foolishness and not reality. They don't seem to understand that I feel I can shape and build my own reality. Not luck, not fluke, not faith but I.

I than get a email, tweet, a text, or have a normal conversation with someone who feels my work has somewhat moved them in a way. To help them push and pursue whatever it is they want in life. And that is what really puts everything in perspective for me. It's what makes everything worth while the sleepless nights, hours of editing, the interviews. At the end of it all just to have my work effect someone in such a way to give them that extra push is all that matters.

To be honest, i dont even know what im chasing. But this is the best run of my life.

Some things are just so gorgeous that you really just got to share sometimes. Just the other day I was heading out to work on a shoot with a few friends of mine. Unfortunately, they had ended up running late, so as I was waiting for them I decided to talk a little stroll in the mall. Not looking to buy anything just to really past time.

School has started and I at the moment am just like every other college student who lives alone, just really trying to survive on a tight budget. And with just my "luck" I came across this Polo, why does Ralph always do these things to be? Driving my pocket deeper and deeper into depression. With my obsession with patterns especially floral I just couldn't manage to turn to look away. *Sigh* such is life.

Lets get out of the box and say you don't have to be a scout nor a sailor to be able to wear a neckerchief. The neckerchief in my opinion can possibly be one of the best accessories a man can wear. If done right, if not it can just be an absolute disaster.

In the Victorian Era the Neckerchief ( Cravat ) was quite the most popular accessory worn by man. But however in those times it was much more of a formal and up - tight fit of a cravat. However today's contemporary neckerchief, has gone under an extreme transformation.Turning its back on its up tight fitting formal roots to becoming much more easy and free fitting.

The sole purpose for the neckerchief is to accessorize, they usually tend to be made from silk or cotton and come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. Not only is it a big attention grabber, but it brings great quality to an outfit and portray's a man's attention to detail. You really cant go wrong with a neckerchief, if done properly it will always be a win win decision.

At one point I was never really one for bright bold colors in my looks. I just wasn't able to find a way to pull them off and still looked maintained and not 12 years old. But this summer i just decided to give this whole color blocking trend a go. And I must say, color will be much more frequent in my wardrobe.

What Is Color Blocking ?
Color blocking is the combination of two or more blocks of color within an outfit. This could be for a top, bottom, tie, socks and even a bag or shoes. It's pretty much all about creating an outfit by putting areas or blocks of solid color next to each other. This doesn't only have to be used by bright colors you can also include other tones : monotone, muted colors, contrasting and complimentary colors. Clothes, shoes, handbags and accessories can all feature color block designs or can make up different blocks of color to be put together for a color block outfit.

The most popular theory for combining colors is called the rule of two-thirds. How you achieve the rule of two-thirds starts by making an equilateral triangle (a triangle with 3 equal sides) on the color wheel… From there, you pick two of the three colors that the triangle touches. These colors will almost always harmonize together beautifully.

Floral prints, yes us men can wear them as well and carry them just as elegantly. For many centuries flowers have been used for inspiration and beauty for all forms of art. Style is surely not an exception to the arts that are capable to incorporate this beauty.

Lets be real floral shirts are often avoided by men actually they really aren't even an option that is ever put on the table. The only way you can catch most when wearing floral prints is for a day at the bench, other than that its pretty rare. It all comes back to the whole "masculinity" issue and "feeling like a man " in what you wear.

Feeling like a man shouldn't necessary rely on what it is that you wear, but how you carry yourself through day to day life. And lets face it fashion as a whole is slowly changing and with that style is becoming more vast. This means that dresses and shirts for ladies can also be utilized by men. It’s also something that breaks down the gap between men and ladies wear.

For this post I teamed up with San Diego native Edward Honaker. Edward's style is very clean cut and well put together. His style has a great influence of a classical males perspective.What really draws me to Edward is that he is only at the age of 17. I haven't met many, actually no 17 year old who dresses as well and classy as this fellow.

Traditional, classy, and versatile are 3 words that really some up the pinpoint oxford shirt.Oxford clothes are one of the most popular fabrics for a dress shirt due to that it is so soft which make it prominent among all.

What I love about the pinpoint oxford is its versatility, it can be used in a formal matter and at the same time can be worn sporty. In my books you can truly never go wrong throwing one of these on. They are a must have basic, not only do they fit and look great but as well are extremely comfortable and durable.

Pinpoint has a fine texture, frequently tailored with a single needle - contributing to it's light weight. The subtle details is what makes this style a popular dress shirt, especially in the summer. This one specifically has a spread collar with 65% polyester and 35% cotton. Thrift stores are filled with these (I thrifted this one). With a traditional shirt like the pinpoint oxford, it's necessary to play with patterns. This can easily be done with a paisley tie. To take it to the next level I added striped shorts. Suede bucks are always a summer trend that suits me best sockless.

I must say the "cuff/rolled up jean" is probably the fastest growing "trend" in style that I have seen in a good while. And for every one who reads my blog knows the cuff is a detail that I am very fond of. Even though rolling my jeans, khakis, or wool trousers is a trend. It is just become second nature to me just before I hit the town for the day.

There are actually a few different styles and techniques when it comes to rolling up your jeans, or maybe its just something that I just came up with in my mind over the years.These cuffs can be used in flexible manners, if your're going somewhere casual but not too urban maybe you would want your cuff to of coarse be a lot neater. Versus someone who is just enjoying a day out on the town.

But the cuffs don't just stop at the jeans. As well rolling up short sleeve t-shirts and button ups, has become a popular trend as of late. This style really originates back to the 50's when it was more functional, the motorcycle greasers would tend to roll their cigarette packs up into their sleeves. With any trend there must have been a functional use to it at one point and time.

Many of the beauties in life we take for granted or we just are not conscious of them most of the time. Among such beauties are the people we meet while on this roller coaster we call life. People we meet will always leave a mark on us whether it's for the good or bad, and in some instances it can go both ways.

As my journey continues I continue to meet more great people day in and day out. Especially this summer that I have spent here in Montreal. Not saying that I haven't met any great people back in Ottawa, but there is just something here that just vibes with me.

As I had mentioned in a previous post, I was creating a series that consist of photography and capturing life itself. Well this is the first installment of just that. What I am aiming to do is feature friends and people I have encountered throughout my life. These people are beautiful inside and out and will have left a mark on me for many years to come and this is my way of sharing them with you all.

Everyone meet Sula. Like myself she as well is a student in Fashion Marketing, she's actually the cousin of Vanessa who I featured in a post awhile back. Truly a beautiful person inside and out, I keep telling her she needs to hop her butt into modeling professionally. And her style phewww!!! is amazing I must say it must run in her family. She was busy painting her new apartment with Vanessa until I totally barged in wanting to shoot her lol.

First and foremost I must apologize for I have been slacking with my updates. I promised myself this summer I will be a much better blogger and push harder with my updates. But when life really starts tugging away at you, you have to deal and roll with what comes with it.

When it comes to footwear there is pretty much a very wide selection of styles you can choose from for any occasion / event. Not many men from who I have come across tend to steer away from slip on's. Why? I have no clue. During the summer season slip on's would probably be my first choice above anything else. The amount of comfort I get from them keep me coming back and ditching the lace ups from time to time. There is nothing better than waking up getting dressed for the day than being able to slip your feet (Literally) into a pair of shoes and be on your way.

With footwear I'm always pulled by the detailing that has been put into the piece. It can be as simple as a color way or stitching of a sneaker to craftsman ship of a wingtip lace up.

Tassels & Frills are a great example for attractive detailing put into a shoe. However many may argue on how "profession" and "appropriate" they may and may not be pending on the surroundings. But in my opinion they add a bit of character to a mans wardrobe, it doesn't ever hurt to show you're human from time to time.

A social network is defined as : a social structure made up of individuals (or organizations) called "nodes", which are tied (connected) by one or more specific types of inter dependency. Social networks such as twitter, Facebook, Myspace, blog spot, etc. Have really made the world much smaller in a sense that everyone can manage to locate or get into contact with whom ever they want world wide.

Through blogging I have ran into really creative and inspiring individuals through the net. To be honest even though my base is being a "Style Blogger". I don't find that I get much of my inspiration from other fashion blogs or style blogs that often. I really try not to limit myself to a title I'm really into trying to dip my hands into a bit of other things and experimenting from time to time. To help grow and possibly make my path a bit more clearer.

Where a lot of my inspiration comes from is looking at work from photographers. Being able to capture NOT just picture but LIFE itself is what really triggers me as an artist. In no way would I ever attempt to label myself as a Photographer, but it's just an art that I am greatly intrigued by.

I am in the midst of trying out another project more like a series that involves photography and capturing life. It's just another one of my random impulsive thoughts that came to me randomly one day ( actually while I was in the shower lol ).

But anyhow here are a few shots I took of Anna this past week at my apartment, just thought I would share. There are more on my Photo Diary.

Personally one thing I have always had the desire to attempt to wear was a head wrap. I have always been drawn to them visually, but i tend to only see them worn by women. Rarely do I see males wearing them and when I do they look just as good.

Middle Eastern, Central Asian, South Asian, and Sikh turban wearers usually wind it anew for each wearing, using long strips of cloth. The cloth is usually five meters or less. However, some elaborate South Asian turbans may be permanently formed and sewn to a foundation. Turbans can be very large or quite modest dependent upon region, culture, and religion.

A head wrap s a great way to really bring a dull outfit to life just as much as any other accessory. The head wrap if you think about it is really just a pretty simple accessory, but how you put it together will make a great difference. I just used a scarf that I picked up at a thrift store, the color tones and pasterns of the scarf are perfect for the earthy tones I was looking for so I figured it would suit best for a head wrap piece as well. I greatly encourage my fellow man to give them a try like I always say "style has no sex nor color" if you're confident and comfortable enough to wear a garment, than why not?.

This leather bag is probably one of the best pieces I have discovered at a thrift store yet. I usually tend to use Satchels or Man Purses for school and days out around the town. Mainly because I have it hard to find bag packs that accompany my style. The size of this bag is just right, its not to big and its not to small which makes it really easy to carry my essentials with out it getting heavy, bulky, or loosing its form.

I was somewhat forced by a friend to purchase this shoes/sandals. No way am I a fan of wearing sandals or anything where my feet are somewhat exposed. But I have grown fond of these shoes, the amount of comfort is incredible its as if I have nothing on my feet. I surely will not regret this purchase and will bring my friend along with me as I shop more often.

The Henley shirt is a purchased I made probably 3 years ago. But never wear it, reason being it was buried away deep into my closet. What drew me to this Henley was definitely the Chinese style collar detail. Most Henley tops I run into tend to just be a straight button up from a V cut.

Unless if it's something like a Rolex, or a ridiculous sized pendents and rings. It really shouldn't be this way, as most of you know I encourage those to wear what ever they feel fits their story/style.

Over time I have collected a wide collection of accessories from hats, rings, necklaces, socks, and ties. When accessories are brought into play, your outfit can be much livelier if done correctly. Keep in mind accessories can also tarnish your look. My accessories have really developed to be more than just some sort of trend. They have just really grown on me, I feel naked without them. Ive been through so many different bracelets due to a few of them snapping here and there but I really don't see myself letting go of them anytime soon.

Using accessories properly can be extremely effective. You can have the same outfit on 3 separate occasions however, if you tinker around with your accessories properly and accordingly. Your look may have 3 different feels to them. Instead of shopping and thinking "I would like to purchase a black pair of sneakers I think it will go best with all of your tops". Think "let me get this top because it will go great with all my accessories".

Accessories can also have a symbolic meaning followed behind it. For example my Ankh ring means a whole lot to my being. This is an Egyptian symbol, that represents life and immortality. However like many religious or spiritual symbols Ankh does not have a single straight forward meaning.

I did a bit of research on rings and actually came across some interesting information on the significance of wearing rings in the Roman Era.

THUMB—according to the literature of ancient Roman, wearing a ring on thumb could propel your will, and step to success.

FOREFINGER—the finger for direction, wearing a ring on Forefinger, your personality will turn to be open and independent, which is the most suitable for professionals.

MIDDLE FINGER—inferior to the third finger, the middle finger is most suitable for wedding ring .wearing on this finger could make free and chipper atmosphere, will make you inspired, charming and more opposite sex luck.

THIRD FINGER—from the ancient Roman era, people used to wear wedding ring on the third finger. It is said that the finger is joined with heart and is most suitable for delivering sacred vow. For third finger with many important acupuncture points, wearing a ring on it will press muscle moderately and is helpful for stable emotion.

LITTLE FINGER—which is conveying charming and sexy message. unexpected thing will happen with a ring on the little finger. It is highly recommended to the sensitive people or someone who engaging in fashion or related field.

This is the first instalment of Spencer Edwards Style Book series. This instalment embraces the feel of spring / summer styling for 2011.The video experimented with colours that are muted but yet still very vibrant and lively accompanying the feel of the season. What inspired this shooting was the lifestyle of the everyday gentlemen and lady throughout a day to day basis. To achieve this vision filming was done on the downtown streets of Ottawa and Montreal. All styling and filming was done by Spencer Edwards, with kind participation of friends and models from Angie’s Modeling Agency. This project was able to be brought to life and shared with the world of fashion and style.

Attention To Detail : Pocket Square

No matter the onsomble,there is no substitute to attention to every detail, no matter how insignificant any detail may seem. An outfit doesnt always need to be loud and aggressive to speak or grab an individuals attention. Just like many things less can be more and style is no exception to this.

Attention to detail will be a series of posts that will highlight key pieces and styles that can add to your look/style.

A pocket square is a piece of square cloth, or a handkerchief that can be folded in several ways, and tucked into the breast pocket of your blazer for that instant pop of colour.

Unfortunately, not many accessories for men have the ability to go from fashionable to functional in the blink of an eye like a well-folded pocket square. What is great about pocket squares is that there is always a great way to fit them in to your wardrobe regardless on your style preferences. For example if you find yourself more to be a person who like to stick to darker tones and shades. Pocket squares can be that one item that you wear to allow your outfit to pop just a little bit, but in a subtle manner.

If you style consists of a lot of colour play, you can just look at the pocket square as another piece to really experiment with colour wise to accommodate your style. Or possibly working with different textures and patterns is your thing. Pocket squares come in vast selections of sizes, textures and patterns, so really there is no way you can really go wrong with trying one out.

If you’ve always appreciated a woman who bothers with the elegant touch of earrings and necklaces, a pocket square will have the exact same effect on her. It tells her that this is a man that cares enough to pay attention to detail and possesses an eye for style and creativity.

What beautiful weather we have been having as of late! I had to venture off to school to clean out my locker just before the janitors decided to throw out all of my belongings. Just like every other student, I waited until the last minute procrastination always finds its way to get the best of me. But it was a great relief to finish exams and really kick off my summer festivities. I just purchased a 50mm f/ 1.8 lens the other day, the sharpness and quality is amazing. Eventually I plan on moving up to a 1.4 but until than I'm extremely happy and satisfied with the lens. I will be uploading a few new pics to my PHOTO DIARY so give that a gander.

The weather was really calling for much lighter/comfortable apparel. I really don't know how I'm going to manage this summer and spring. Due to the reason that I love to layer and wear much more darker and earth tone colors. So spicing things up will be a bit of a challenge, especially when humidity comes into play. And I've already been warned on many occasions that humidity here in Montreal is a really big issue as the summer months really progress. But meh, what doesn't kill you just makes u dress better right?

This whole blog has really developed into something I would never expect it to. Just from running this blog I have grown a lot more as a person mentally. Along the way I have met amazing people whether it could be at a fashion event to bumping to someone randomly on the train telling me they managed to come across my blog. Being able to inspire others is probably the greatest feeling that one can have. The thought that others find hope and life in what you share is something that I have never really experienced until now.

Every minute of every day I am always trying to cook up a new way to possibly challenge myself mentally or physically. You can never stop learning your craft, there is nowhere to ever go but up. Down should never be an option. I am a strong believer that if you work hard enough in something that you believe in everything will pan out and come together where it should in the end.

And of course with that you will always have minor setbacks or faults that come across your path. With that being said I have been working on a style film for the past month or two now. And this is just a random idea that popped in my head to just do. I have always had an attraction to style. But this blog has really helped me embrace it, develop it, and give it structure. My film is really a experimental piece in my life. I grabbed a few models who so happened to be great friends of mine I ran my idea and concept by them and I was blessed enough to have them hop on board. I can’t wait to share it with all my readers and friends. And get some feedback from everyone, who care to continue to help me grow and learn.

Its over it all seems to be over with. The cold snowy weather that is, spring is really finally beginning to show its true colors finally. Now it’s time to slowly find ways to adapt to the change after the past long excruciating months of cold and snow. With that being said its time to break out my cuffed shorts, tanks, short sleeved button ups, and some light weight trousers. I must admit I’m not looking forward to dealing with the hot sun burning down on my face, it’s not exactly best feeling.

This week is going to be pretty hectic due to exams, but at the same time it’s a big sigh of relief to finally get school out of the way. This will be my first summer living here in Montreal and I really plan on making it a glorious and memorable experience. Just to go out mingle, create, meet new people, and grow is what I’m really striving for. As well if you guys may have notice I have a “photo diary” yeah yeah I know I haven’t updated that in the loooongest time. But I plan on getting back on track with that this summer.

Kim: A leather bag is an essential piece in everybody’s closet. Whether it’s a backpack, a briefcase, a duffle bag or all of the previously mentioned, leather bags always add a vintage/classic touch to every look.

Spencer : For anyone who really knows me they know my satchel is one my pieces I really can't go with out. What draws me to the satchel is that its large enough to really carry all of my essentials to get me through the day. And with that it never ends up getting bulky and it keeps it form. The adjustable cross-body straps are practical yet stylish. You’ll be living hands free and very happy about it.

Kim : A satchel bag is described as a bag with a strap worn so that it diagonally crosses the body, with the bag hanging on the opposite hip. Satchels differentiate themselves from briefcases by their soft-sided material and the strap. They’re very practical and compliment every outfit whether you decide to go for a classy look or a more casual one, satchels can be the “it” factor to your ensemble.

I got my satchel from a store that sells all kind of hand-made leather pieces such as diaries, sketchbooks, bags,... It was love at first sight because I had been looking for one for the longest time. Brown leather is my favorite so that was a huge plus. It’s very practical and comes pretty handy when I have a hectic day at school with all the books that go with it.

As part of a Style Collaboration, yours truly was selected by miss SLY!™ | Fashion & Arts Blogzine, to review the style/guide book “Anything other than naked” by Glen R. Sondag who so happens to be an investment advisor. Sondag, known as a sharp dresser ever since his youth, realized that he could help out. So this book is just that, his way of giving back as well with his own views. "Anything Other Than Naked", a practical guide for men on how to dress properly for every occasion.

This guide pretty much touched based on everything from perfect width of your neck tie pending on body type to how to build a great wardrobe. There were many tips and tricks that I found interesting throughout this read. For example choosing the right collar style that will best suit your facial structure.

STRAIGHT POINT COLLAR

The point straight collar is the best worn by women with and oval or wide face and is th most common collar style. The ideal straight collar is between 2 ¼ and 3 inches in length.

SPREAD COLLAR

The spread collar is somewhat more elegant and looks best on men with a narrow face. This collar really shows and elaborates the Windsor Knot the best and comes in a variety of lengths and degrees of spread.

BUTTON DOWN COLLAR ( Personal Favorite )

This collar certainly is more informal looking than a pinned collar, and should be worn with a blazer or sport coat or when a jacket is work without a tie. This is also the best collar to pair with V- neck sweaters, as the tips of the collar will stay under the sweater unlike a spread collar. Every man really needs a few of these in their wardrobe.

Personally when I pick up blazers I tend to have the arm length a tad bit shorter than the average. Reason being I love to accessorize as many of my followers have noticed over time, so the whole rule/tip on how much of your ¼ shirt cuff should be revealed. Is really out the window when it comes to my personal taste.It really would have been nice to read more in depth on what Glen would have to say about socks. I’m a big fan of working with socks and letting them pop, however he really didn't touch much base on them which was a bit of a bummer.

Overall it was a great read and there is a bit of everything for everyone. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a little bit of push and guidance in dressing and building a wardrobe.

Relaxation is desperately needed on my end as of late. The exams, projects, and finals really had been taking its tole on me mentally. I just needed a moment to really kick back and get away from it all and have a bit of me time. Dominic ( fellow school mate) and I headed over to this near by cafe for escape.

When in my state of relaxation it really allows me to create and paint pictures mentally. Without any disturbances or interruptions I thought to myself how much I love and appreciate the element of creation, is there really anything else that you can get more pleasure out of than creating something? Whether it’s a song, painting, dance, etc.
My creative process really consist of a billion images, quotes, songs, paints just racing through my mind in a second.Every once in a while, my brain hits on a winning combination. Instantly, this exciting new idea pops into my conscious awareness, and I begin to work on it. It’s truly the greatest place I could ever be at any given time, what I find strange about the process. Is that after everything is all said and done it may not make sense to others, but I prefer it that way. Imagine living in a world without logic, just creation.

"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"

I ran into this quote the other day and it really stuck to me. It takes a lot of confidence to completely go through and trust you visions with everything you got. At times it can be scary even nerve racking to show other individuals your work. Some may be jealous, some just may completely ignore it, others may hate it, and others may love it. Its all about trial and error learn from what you have done to enhance it not necessarily "mistakes".Creativity feeds off of relaxation. Relaxing is the only way to give your unconscious mind a chance to combine everything you know and everything you are thinking with everything else you know and everything else you are thinking until it hits on something wonderful. You need to completely let go and let your intuition and feelings take over.
