Styling in the summer time can be a bit tricky, the weather is scorching and to be honest clothing is the last thing we all want on our bodies. With that being said it really doesn’t not leave many options for us men if we don’ t want to pass out from heat stroke. But like anything in life there is way around it. These are 3 basic ways your style can win this summer and manage the heat.

Mixing up patterns is not an easy task, you are more likely to run into more errors than actually pulling it off. Just keeping it realistic with you. But that doesn’t mean its not do able or you should just not give it ago all together. The most important thing to pay attention to when playing with patterns is size. Size does matter, it plays a very important role when trying to get this look poppin’ in the right way. One pattern should always be bigger than the other or one must be more or less scarce than the other. Also keep in mind your figure, if you are more on the bigger side of things stay clear of small detailed prints. Keep these things in mind and I’m sure it will keep you from looking like this guy.

I clearly am no stranger to headwear, can almost say that hats are obsession. I really can point out and appreciate a really good piece of headwear in a crowd. In my humble opinion a good hat can bring personality to any outfit better than any other accessory. Every summer the hat of choice is the Panama Hat, why? It’s lightweight, flexible, and breathable for those extra humid days. What more can you ask for in a summer hat?

Trekking around whatever city you’re in sneakers are the only option for your feet, no body is really trying to trek through city streets in wingtips or brogues all day. Get your sneaker game up! If you’re not much of a sneaker person and do not know where to turn to when thinking of brands and styles. Keep it simple, do not try to drop a load of cash on Jordans if you’re really not about that life young blood. Get yourself a pair of basic New Balance sneakers and call it a day. Feeling a bit more frisky? Get yourself a pair of Nike’s preferably from their Series of Free Run trainers. They are the most comfy sneakers I have ever owned to date. Believe me I’ve been through a load of sneakers.

Yes I know I have been M.I.A for the
past couple of weeks. I apologize for the lack of posts, but life got real over the last few days. But all is well now, school is out and to add icing to the cake summer is here. We have had only about 5 straight days of beautiful weather, and I have already managed to get burnt on the back of my neck. Not cool at all, which is one of many good reasons why I’m not exactly the most ecstatic fan of summer but it sure beats winter.

Two things define the summer months when dealing with clothing, vibrant colors and floral prints. Combine the two and you’re good to go. Wearing floral print is nothing new anything to myself or for anyone else in that matter who takes pride in their wardrobe. The “norm” of floral prints has an aura of femininity behind it, but fellas are you not aware that women love a man who can dabble a bit into their feminine side? Allow the power of the flower to take its course and get in the game. That is why you are too busy reading this
post right now and not with her.

Never stop learning.

At no age do we ever have I all figured out.

The only way to grow is to learn and develop skills also while gaining experience all at the same time. It all shapes us for whom we are presently and to whom we are going to become down the road. In todays modern society the Internet has taken over; people are sharing information much faster, things are going in and out of our system so quickly that if you blink you just might miss something. With everything moving so quickly if you don’t keep learning you’ll just eventually find yourself at a stand still and being left behind. Learning doesn’t always have to pertain to your specific craft, it can involve anything. From a new word down to mastering a new technique to get rid of your annoying hiccups.

One main key factor to life long learning is humility, do not be afraid to say “ I don’t know” instead of playing as if you do and just digging your hole even deeper. Do not! Do not! Do not! Be afraid to fail ever. Look at “failure” as an opportunity to learn, look at it as an experiment just a mild stepping-stone. To let yourself know where you went wrong and to go harder the next chance you get to perform.Over time learning begins to create ambiguity, it trains us to be able to accept and find new ways of doing things. Allowing us to let go of the past and build things for the future.

Most importantly expanding your knowledge will allow you to stay ahead of he pack and remain there. Personally I focus a lot of energy on my weaknesses and strengths, humbling myself to know where and what I am doing wrong and how to improve in those areas. Building your strengths is a lot easier than working on your weaknesses. When one improves on his or her strengths they can make incremental movement. However don’t be blinded, just have enough humility and self-consciousness to notice gaps in your skills. Do not wait down the road to pave those gaps. Do it now!

What were we shooting?? We were putting together the Alibi lookbook for this S/S ’13 collection. It was a good time filled with orange juice, friends and a dish filled with the most amazing white chocolate flavored muffin. Which reminds me I need to find out who makes them ASAP. Them muffins maaaan, were probably the highlight of the entire shoot I must admit. All of the products are currently available in store. If you’re from Montreal or plan on visiting sometime soon place Boutique Alibi on your go to list. Or you’re just losing in life by default.
